Tragic Discovery: Cole Cooper Confirmed Deceased
Police Scotland has officially identified a body found in woodland near Falkirk as that of 19-year-old Cole Cooper. The discovery occurred about a week ago, in the Banknock area, just weeks after Cole went missing following a night out with friends in early May.
Cole’s family has been notified and is currently receiving support from specialized officers. As authorities work to clarify the circumstances surrounding the young man’s unexplained death, they have conducted extensive inquiries, searching for clues about Cole’s movements leading up to his disappearance.
A Community in Mourning
On May 9, a report was filed regarding Cole’s disappearance. Two days later, he was reportedly seen by a witness in the nearby village of Longcroft. Police have since revealed that CCTV footage captured Cole at multiple locations in Longcroft during the early hours of May 4, shortly after he left a gathering in Denny.
In a continued effort to gather information, detectives are appealing to the public for additional CCTV footage from areas surrounding Banknock, especially along the A803 Kilsyth Road, from May 4 to May 7. Chief Inspector Alex Hatrick expressed his condolences to the family, emphasizing the importance of keeping them informed throughout the investigation.
Community Vigil Planned
In memory of Cole, a vigil will be held on Sunday evening at Glenskirly Hotel in Banknock, commencing at 19:00. Cole’s aunt, Aimee Tennie, shared that this gathering is open to everyone who has rallied around Cole during this challenging period, including friends, family, and community supporters.
Ms. Tennie expressed the overwhelming emotions her family has encountered in recent weeks, stating, “There are very little words left to express the trauma we have endured the past several weeks, but there are many to describe how incredible our Cole was. Please join us in remembering Cole.”
As police continue their inquiries, they have urged anyone with information about Cole’s last movements to come forward, as even the smallest detail could prove instrumental in piecing together the timeline of events leading to this tragic situation.
