Perhaps wishes really do come true. According to Second Avenue Sagas, the R train will begin service between Brooklyn and Manhattan again starting Friday. This will be the first time the line has operated under the East River since Hurricane Sandy left the system in shambles. Joy to the world, the trains will run.

Holidays Wheel Wreath

We spotted this wicked cool bicycle wreath outside of Roots Cafe last week, and knew instantly that a quest for unique South Slope wreaths was in order. The dangling hearts could very well mean this is a holdover from last Valentine’s Day, but with the red and white pinstripe screaming candy canes, we’ll say it’s Christmas.

Taksim 2 is moving into the old Taste of China space at 776 4th Avenue. The owner tells us that the Turkish restaurant, which has another location in Manhattan, will open around the 1st of January. Menupages reviews for the Midtown restaurant recommend their lahmacun (flatbread with minced lamb and veggies on top), and we’re dying
